Co. Ltd., the largest feed producer in China. Ms. Sui Li, NIR specialist of New Hope Liuhe commented: "We started testing the ONET networking software in February 2014 and received professional support throughout the implementation from Bruker China as well as the Bruker headquarters in Germany. Today, ONET brings us a lot of advantages for managing 32 1/2016 eFOOD-Lab international Industry 4.0 almost 100 NIR spectrometers, not only for calibration, instrument and operator management, but also for the data management and data security. This allows us to have a more streamlined workflow and a substantial decrease in maintenance expenses. ONET hugely simplifies the management and distribution of NIR calibration models which speeds up the use of NIR applications in a big company like the New Hope Liuhe group." Another successful implementation of ONET was carried out in the Guangdong Evergreen Feed Industry Co., Ltd, a large-scale private enterprise group, focusing on the businesses of farming and aquatic product processing. Evergreen Feed Industry currently operates 9 NIR instruments with ONET spread throughout China with over 300 calibrations for animal feed. Luoying Xiong, NIR specialist from Evergreen Feed Industry commented: “By using ONET our central lab has been able to easily distribute and update calibrations across all production sites with just a few clicks. ONET’s centralized structure has greatly improved our calibration and user data security as well as its reliability. Finding measurements across all our production sites is much easier and performing a global backup is very simple.” Conclusion The journey towards Industry 4.0 will be an evolutionary process where developing a common communication and authentication standard represents one of its biggest current challenges. Bruker’s ONET is the company’s first step towards Industry 4.0, greatly simplifying and streamlining the work of NIR specialists responsible for several Bruker FT-NIR instruments. Being able to manage spectrometers, products and users using a common web interface combined with the trend chart module which can display historical product data are some of the key features of this product. During his doctorate degree he pursued the development of a network of biosensors for the highthroughput analysis of protein binding assays. Today, he is the ONET Business Development Manager in the NIR & Process Technology department of Bruker Optics in Germany.
